Helpful Personal Injury Tips

About

J Gromit is a plain-English guide to personal injury — written for the moment after something has gone wrong and you are trying to work out where you stand.

What this site covers

Most of what we publish sits under premises liability: injuries that happen because of the state of somebody else’s property. Wet floors in a fast-food restaurant, a badly lit stairwell, a loose handrail, a car park that was never gritted. These cases turn on a single question — did the person responsible for that space take reasonable care? — and the answer is rarely as obvious as it looks.

How we write

Each article takes one situation and works through it: how the injury typically happens, what a property owner’s duty actually is, what evidence matters afterwards, and the points where people most often weaken their own position without realising it.

We try to be specific. “Report it and take photographs” is advice everybody gives; what is useful is knowing what to photograph, who the report should go to, and why the gap between the incident and the paperwork is the part insurers look at first.

What this site is not

This is an information site, not a law firm, and nothing here is legal advice. Injury law varies by state and the facts of your own case will decide it. If you are weighing up a claim, speak to a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction — the point of these articles is to help you ask them better questions.
